Metro Trains Melbourne has begun to roll out new myki readers
The new myki readers can be found at a couple of the stations on the Upfield line. These are the standalone types so far (I believe none of the stations along the Upfield line past North Melbourne have myki barriers…yet).

Instead of tapping on the screen itself, the new myki readers keep the information readable whilst tapping on and off.
They also sound much more satisfying compared with the old train station myki readers, although this is quite subjective.
